My mother and I couldn’t be more different. She wears gold, I prefer silver. She frolics in the mud and leaves; while I enjoy basking on a beach and skiing down the slopes. And I count my blessings that she doesn’t look good in any garment I own (that sounds harsh but keep reading).
While I take notice of such colourful differences I see that all of these characteristics are a direct correlation to our pigmentation. She’s a beautiful Grecian olive skinned woman, while I can be compared with cherries in the summer and Casper in the winter.
The answer is simple: She’s a gold, I’m a silver. (And that has nothing to do with our succession in age)
Here the KISS method to finding your perfect palette:
Throw a gold necklace on and examine yourself in the mirror. Do the same with a silver necklace. (Both need to be real metals not the plated gold or silvertone stuff!) Now, which one reflects better on your skin? Which appears brighter or prettier?
IF IT’S GOLD:
Bless your natural glow that tanning beds are of no use to you. You appear best in rich browns, blushing reds and bright yellows. Stick along the same colour wheel with greens and oranges. If you’re going metallic, gold, bronze and copper work well. You most likely have olive or darker pigmentation in your skin so keep your hair colour within the warm browns and honey blonde hues.
Please refrain from wearing silver, blue, pinks and any pastel colours as they will wash your skin out of it’s vibrancy.
According to Pantone’s fall colour Bible you would look best in nougat, coffee liqueur, cedar, bamboo and splashs of phlox.
IF IT’S SILVER:
Be thankful you can frolic amongst your fair-faced friends! Stick to colours that are lighter like soft grays, ivory and creams, blues, purples and pinks. Pastels will look great on you in the summer time. Silver, platinum and onyx are hot metallics to try as well. Your hair should look great with lighter hues of blondes and browns. If you’re daring, try a jet-black! (Think Katy Perry).
Please refrin from wearing too much dark colours as it will wash your pigments. Browns, red, oranges and yellows look best on gold people unless your skin has slight undertones of any of these colours.
According to Pantone’s fall colour Bible you would look great in quarry, orchid hush, deep teal, honeysuckle, emberglow and in certain instances phlox.
Now if you’ll excuse me I need to try this trick on my pet hampster! (She needs a new leather jacket this year!)
Colour co-ordinate with caution!
